PiNoY Energy in Full Swing By Dr Erika Salvame

The Philippine Network of Young Ophthalmologist (PiNoY) celebrated its debut involvement in international conferences at the 6th ASEAN Ophthalmology Society (AOS) Congress held in Manila Philippines from October 17 to 19, 2023.

Led by Dr. Charisse Tanlapco, PiNOY conducted 4 major activities throughout the congress period. This included 3 scientific sessions and 1 cocktail session.

In line with this year’s theme of Global Trends through Regional Perspective, the delegates were treated to a wide array of inspiring talks from seasoned ophthalmologists including AOS congress president Dr. Ruben Lim Bon Siong, VRSP President Dr Harvey Uy, and much more. Topics ranged from international fellowship experiences, career options within Ophthalmology and emerging trends in YO such as fashion, technology and artificial intelligence. A highlight of the PiNOY activities was the Cocktails with the Expert segment. Attended by more than 130 local and international delegates from more than 10 institutions, the goal of the activity was to encourage YOs to find mentors that will inspire them to reach their full potential in an evolving ophthalmology space.

PiNoY hopes that these activities catalyze a more prominent involvement of Filipino young ophthalmologists in both the local and international scene.
