Whether you’re drawn to laid-back island vibes or thrilling mountain trails, the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology (PAO), in collaboration with the Northern Mindanao Society of Ophthalmology (NMSO), invites you to another destination congress – the PAO Midyear Convention 2026.
To be held at Luxe Hotel in Cagayan De Oro City from April 29 to May 1, this year’s gathering carries the theme “Vision in Gold: Elevating the Future of Eye Health.” Brace yourselves for a learning getaway like no other.
Known as the “City of Golden Friendship,” Cagayan De Oro offers a refreshing contrast to the fast-paced metropolitan skyline. Located along the northern coast of Mindanao, it is recognized for its scenic rivers, lush landscapes, and outdoor adventures. Ride the waves of the Cagayan river through its famous whitewater rafting, or soak up the sun at the Seven Seas Waterpark and Resort. Take a breather and immerse yourself in the city’s ecoparks and cultural landmarks. With its thriving commercial hubs, the city blends urban lifestyle with accessible highland escapes. Just a short flight away via Laguindingan airport, discover a setting that bridges leisure and productivity.

This year’s midyear convention promises a rich scientific program featuring cutting-edge lectures and interactive panel discussions. Participants will surely bring home valuable insights on advancements and evolving trends across the medical and surgical subspecialties.
Beyond the scientific sessions, the convention creates opportunities for social gathering and networking within the ophthalmology community. Allied healthcare professionals and industry partners will also showcase the latest pharmaceuticals and technology.
Experience this vibrant city through jam-packed activities. Sweat it out with adrenaline junkies during the Adventure Race at the Dahilayan Adventure Park, or show off your best swings at Pueblo De Oro for the Midyear Golf Tournament.

Registration is now open with categorical rates applicable for members, non-members, and accompanying persons. An instructional course on Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS) is also available on a first come, first-served basis.
Where education meets innovation, join us as we journey south, elevating Philippine ophthalmology and envisioning the golden future of eye health.
